
Dr. Mohab Abou Zeid coordinates all administrative, financial and organisational aspects of the Cluster in close collaboration with the spokespersons and the research group leaders. He is a theoretical physicist with a strong research background in quantum gravity, string theory and quantum field theory. He was born in Cairo and educated in Geneva, Lausanne, Heidelberg, Cambridge and London. Amongst other appointments, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Max-Planck-Institut for Gravitational Physics in Potsdam, a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Humboldt Universität in Berlin and a PPARC Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Imperial College London. He was an Erasmus Exchange Fellow, a Sunburst Fellow of the Council of the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, an Isaac Newton Institute Junior Fellow, a Chercheur Associé au CNRS, a Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science Research Fellow and a Visiting Professor at Zewail University of Science and Technology in Cairo. He has taught in Geneva, Lausanne, London, Hannover and Frankfurt. He joined Goethe Universität Frankfurt in 2022. He is a keen tennis, piano and chess player.

Dr. Johann Isaak is responsible for the establishment of a coherent concept for managing research data generated in the various Working Areas of ELEMENTS. He develops guidelines and common procedures to ensure a sustainable treatment of research data according to the FAIR data principles. He joined ELEMENTS in May 2022 and is an experimental nuclear physicist with expertise in spectroscopy of nuclear excitations.

Dr. Phyllis Mania is responsible for communicating the research conducted at ELEMENTS to a general audience. Her tasks include organizing events (e.g., Science Night, Children’s University), collaborating with schools, and presenting our work in the press and social media. She has a background in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience and worked as an educational consultant and freelance journalist before joining ELEMENTS in February 2022.

Dr. Enikő Baga is responsible for integrating diversity, equity and inclusion into the structures and daily practices within ELEMENTS. Her main task consists in taking into account all the specific needs of ELEMENTS members, in order to create an open and welcoming working environment for everyone. She has a background in political science and cultural anthropology, with focus on Eastern and Central Europe and European integration. She speaks five languages and is an avid reader.

Christin Schlemm works as an Administrative Assistant for ELEMENTS and joined the project in November 2021. Her tasks include co-managing the cluster’s funds, processing personnel matters and organizing events among other duties. She has completed an apprenticeship as a foreign language correspondent and worked at the faculty of humanities at Tübingen University and in the private sector in the past.

Jessica Kramer works as a Team Assistant at the Institute for Nuclear Physics at TU Darmstadt since 2018. Her main tasks focus on the administration of third-party funded research projects in particular. In this context, she has also been involved at the Hessian research cluster ELEMENTS since April 2021. In regards to the ELEMENTS branch at TU Darmstadt, she acts as an interface concerning administrative tasks and assists the local PIs.
