High Performance Computing

The computational expensive simulations performed within the WAs require High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructures. ELEMENTS has access to various HPC clusters at the partner institutions such as the Goethe-CSC, the Green Cube, and the Lichtenberg II.

S-DALINAC

TU Darmstadt operates the superconducting electron accelerator S-DALINAC. The university-based linear accelerator complements the research opportunities with heavy-ion beams at FAIR with clean electromagnetic probes and provides a training site for doctoral researchers in accelerator science.

Super-FRS

ELEMENTS PIs are leading the FAIR scientific pillar NUSTAR (Nuclear Structure, Astrophysics and Reactions), where fundamental properties of nuclear matter are explored by exploiting radioactive ion beams that are separated and identified by the Superconducting Fragment Separator (Super-FRS).
